Longstaff
adds new face to Warriors’ roster
It has today been
announced that Whitley Warriors have signed nineteen year old forward Adam
Finlinson from Swindon Wildcats. Starting out at Hillheads in 2010 with the
Northern Stars Under 16s team and Whitley Tomahawks, Finlinson progressed through the
junior ranks at Whitley Bay Ice Rink before making the switch to Kingston
Sharks in his 2013-14 campaign. Icing for Swindon Wildcats’ EPL and NIHL
outfits, Finlinson also played fourteen games for the Okanagan Hockey Academy UK
during which time he scored an outstanding thirty three goals and seventeen assists. Expected to be a real prospect for the Warriors, Finlinson will look to showcase his goal
scoring prowess in his first senior season at Whitley Bay Ice Rink from September.
Speaking to NIHL
Northern Trio about his switch from the Wildcats to Whitley, Finlinson shared: “I’m
excited to join the Warriors as from a young age I used to watch them week in,
week out. I’m looking forward to the new challenges ahead and to play with old
team mates again. With the EPL teams dropping down to the NIHL, it was a
no-brainer to sign for the Warriors as it’s my local team and where I came up
through the ranks in my juniors.”
Adding to this, player-coach David Longstaff noted: “He’s a local lad and the only way we can get players like this is because he lives in the area. He’s a very good player and has a lot of talent.”
