The flow of signing
news continuing, Whitley Warriors have announced that forward Alan Yarrow will again
be part of David Longstaff’s roster as he embarks on his eighth campaign with
the outfit. Coming out of retirement to make his return to the club last
season, Yarrow featured in twenty four games and, though unable to pick up a
goal for the side, tallied sixty three penalty minutes to demonstrate his
assertiveness on the ice. Initially dividing his time between Sunderland Chiefs
and Whitley Warriors in 1992, Yarrow enjoyed several spells at the Hillheads club
before parting company with the side ahead of a move to Australia. The
forward’s most productive season saw him play twenty seven games in the
Warriors’ 1997-98 campaign, during which time he recorded eleven goals and
three assists. In the same term however, Yarrow was also the side’s most
penalised player, racking up two hundred and thirty seven penalty minutes and
presenting an edge to his game for which he is perhaps better known today and
will no doubt exhibit when he lines up with the Warriors in September. Meanwhile,
Whitley Warriors have also confirmed that captain Jamie Tinsley will take time
away from the sport following a recent family bereavement.
In other news, Billingham
Stars TV will launch their new show, ‘Stars Talk’, live from The Forum at 8pm
this evening via their Facebook page. Joined by General Manager Allen Flavell,
Director of Coaching Terry Ward, defenceman Scott Cooper and Swedish import
Daniel Palmebjörk, there will be much to discuss ahead of the Stars’ upcoming
season so don't forget to tune in!
